A Nickel allergy is an incurable contact allergy which can develop at any time in life, for example if you use jewellery that contains nickel. Contrary to popular belief, gold and silver jewellery and jewellery called “nickel-free” are never entirely free from nickel.
Making beautiful jewellery is a complicated art. Making beautiful jewellery that takes into account the wearer’s’ health is even harder. It requires ambitious product development, precision and independent quality controls. Not everyone succeeds, but ends up compromising with skin friendliness. This is something we will never do. Our jewellery will always be both beautiful and safe to wear.
Allergy concerns everyone…
- Contact allergy can develop at any time in a life time, for example, through the use of jewellery with nickel in it. Once you develop nickel allergy, you will have it for life.
- Even if jewellery is marked with “nickel free”, markings, it does not mean that the jewellery is totally free from nickel. The reason is that all metals contain nickel, at least as impurities.
- Jewellery can also contain other allergens such as, cobalt, palladium, gold, chrome, epoxy & acrylates.
- They can also contain toxic substances such as lead & cadmium. While these do not always cause contact allergy, they are rather toxic & have been linked to more serious illnesses.

Kind Materials
- Blomdahl only uses the kindest material in direct contact with skin. Many allergenic people who have tried to wear jewellery testify that they can wear earrings for the first time, in a long time, without problems.
Plastic or Titanium
- Blomdahl do not compromise with skin friendliness, only specially chosen plastic & titanium of pure medical qualities are used for parts that are in contact with the skin.
Extra Care for Children
- Children & adults should not be exposed to unsuitable materials & substances. This is particularly important for children as many have their ears pierced.
- An ear piercing makes the skin extra sensitive. After 6-12 weeks you can remove the ear piercing, however it takes up to a year before the holes have properly healed.|o The risk of developing nickel allergy is greatest during this first year. Therefore it is very important to wear skin friendly jewellery during this time.
